1980s Greek Pots Liles continues to work in collage in series based on images from Greek pottery, Egyptian art, and Asian erotica. Inspired by art of the past, Liles recreates classic images in a Postmodern manner, adding bright modern swaths of color. Unfortunately, much of the Greek Pots series is destroyed in a basement flood. Liles spends a number of years recreating many of the images. While revisiting the Greek work, he becomes inspired by erotic Greek pottery and his work becomes explicitly erotic. "When dealing with mythology, he (Liles) uses line and pattern to construct images of visceral power and stylized elegance." James R. Nelson The Birmingham News, November 18, 2007
